Is your ADE address visible to everyone? Find out who can see your e-Delivery address - and why it is protected
At podpisano.pl we often hear the question:
"Is my e-Delivery address publicly visible?"
The answer is: it depends on who you are. An individual? A company? An office? In each case, the rules are different. But one thing is certain -. e-Delivery address(ADE) is personal data, which is protected under the RODO. And today we explain exactly what this means.
What is ADE - and is it personal information?
ADE (electronic delivery address) is a unique electronic address assigned to a specific person, company or office. It allows you to receive official electronic letters - with the power of registered mail.
Although it doesn't look like a classic email address, ADE meets the definition of personal data under the RODO, because:
- is unambiguously linked to a specific person (or entity),
- enables it identification In the e-Delivery system,
and its processing (e.g., by an authority) involves a duty of protection.
Why is ADE a personal data?
According to the RODO, personal data is any information that identifies an individual - directly or indirectly. ADE, as a unique identifier in the e-Delivery service, meets this condition.
Therefore, administrators of e-Delivery systems must protect ADEs in the same way as name, PESEL or residential address - among others, from unauthorized access, disclosure or processing.
Who can see your ADE?
Individual (citizen)
- If you are a private individual - your ADE is invisible to the public.
- It is only seen by authorized public entities (e.g., offices, courts, Social Security), which must be able to serve you a letter.
- Companies, other individuals and organizations cannot search for your ADE - even if they know your information.
Your ADE is not "email for publication" - it's your personal information and is protected accordingly.
Public entities (offices, schools, local government units JST)
- ADE addresses of the offices are public and publicly available - and very good.
- This allows you to quickly send a letter to, for example, a municipality or county office - without printing and without visits to the post office.
Companies and organizations (CEIDG, KRS)
- Companies, associations, foundations and other entities registered in CEIDG or KRS are obliged to obliged to have a public ADE.
- Their addresses are visible in BAE for every citizen, office and company.
Deadlines
- KRS - mandatory from April 1, 2025
- CEIDG - for each change of entry from July 1, 2025, for all by October 1, 2026 at the latest

What about RODO protection?
ADE administrator's responsibility
The administrator of an e-Delivery box (i.e., the person who sets it up and manages it) has a duty to protect users' personal data, including ADEs. This includes, among other things:
- Restricting access to data to authorized persons only,
- Ensuring the security of the systems in which the data is processed,
- Enabling the exercise of users' rights (e.g., access to data, rectification, deletion - in cases provided for by law).
What are the implications of this?
Your private e-Delivery address is secure and hidden from the outside worldbut visible to the authoritieswho have the right to contact you electronically.
On the other hand, if you run a business or are an official -. your ADE will be public. But rest assured - it's not a phone number or email. It's a legal communication tool that is used only for official deliveries.
